I adore warm apple cider around the holidays. It brings me back to my childhood. This is my adult version with the addition of whiskey. I am usually not a whiskey fan, but I have to say, it is pretty fabulous in the cider.

Yield approximately 4 cups

2 small blood oranges, sliced (1 for simmering and 1 for garnishing)
½ navel orange, sliced
½ lemon, sliced
1 cup fresh cranberries + extra for garnish
3 star anise
½ apple, sliced
2 cups organic fresh-pressed apple juice
2 cups whiskey
¼ cup mulling spices
Tiny sprigs of rosemary for garnish

In a pot, add all the ingredients, minus the garnishes. Bring the cider to a simmer on medium heat. Reduce the heat to low for 30 minutes. Strain the mulling spices out of the cider. You can leave the fruit or strain it out. Serve the cider warm with garnishes in each glass.

Cheers, and enjoy!
