I named this drink after my son because he loves Mezcal. I am personally not a fan of Mezcal, but in this recipe, you can easily substitute Tequila if Mezcal is not your thing.

Yield 1 drink

1 ½ oz. Mezcal
1 slice of jalapeño, seeds removed or a hotter pepper if you want it a bit spicier
1 oz. simple syrup
1 thick slice of cucumber
1 oz. water
½ oz. lime juice
1 thin slice of orange

In a  glass muddle the cucumber slice and water together. Add the Mezcal, jalapeño, simple syrup, lime juice, and ice. Shake well and strain into a rocks glass with one large ice cube. Garnish with the orange slice. If you want it spicier, add the slice of jalapeño that you used to shake the drink along with the garnish in the glass.

Simple syrup: In a small pot, add ½ cup of sugar and ½ a cup of water. Simmer on the stove until the sugar has dissolved. Let it cool before using it.

Cheers, and enjoy!
