This is a fresh spin on the original Gin Basil cocktail, which is made with simple syrup. I kept this drink a bit cleaner by just adding a touch of agave. If you prefer, it also tastes good without any sweetener at all. I usually add a little more lemon juice and top it with a splash of sparkling water. 
 
Yield 1 cocktail
 
1 cup fresh basil leaves
2 oz. gin
1 oz fresh lemon juice
3 Tbsp agave
Ice 
Basil sprig for garnish 
 
Place 1 cup of basil leaves, gin, lemon juice, and agave in a cocktail shaker. Muddle the basil in the shaker four or five times to release the basil oils. 
 
Strain the shaker into a glass filled with ice and garnish with a sprig of basil.
